IN TSCHERCHA DA STIZIS CD Book

Martina Linn's CD In Tschercha da Stizis, 2023, comes in a beautifully designed 14 × 19 cm book. With 52 bilingual pages (Rhaeto-Romanic & German), it features poems, texts on music and poets, plus illustrations by Lea Meyer and photos by Tabea Hüberli. Signed copies available on request.

Martina Linn was already enthusiastic about the musicality of the Rhaeto-Manic language during her school days at the Academia Engiadina. In the summer of 2022 she set out to follow these tracks. For three months in Santa Maria in Val Müstair she immersed herself in the rich world of Romansh poetry in order to transform selected poems by different authors born between 1824 and 1984 into music and to rearrange folk songs. The result is ten magically melancholic and moving songs, spherical, sonorous and influenced by their traditional genre, indie folk. The music is packaged in a comprehensive CD book. It contains the original poems and song lyrics, which Lea Meyer, born in Bever and now lives in Basel, illustrated in an extremely atmospheric way. Martina Linn tells - accompanied by photos by Zurich photographer Tabea Hüberli - about the creative process of creating the songs in Val Müstair, followed by short biographies of the poets and composers and an afterword by Tim Krohn. The book is written throughout in Romansh and German. With this project, Martina Linn would also like to contribute to spreading Romansh culture and language beyond the borders of the canton of Graubünden.
